Recurring flooding around gully drainage in the hangar area during heavy rainfall had become a persistent operational problem at Doncaster Sheffield Airport. The engineering team needed to understand precisely where the affected gullies discharged, how they connected to the main drainage run, and why they were flooding — all without disrupting airport operations.

Drain Alert mobilised a 90 gal/min jetter and vacuum tanker to clean and clear the drainage system ahead of the CCTV survey — ensuring cameras had clear access and that footage would accurately reflect the system’s condition. Our engineers then carried out a thorough CCTV drain inspection, tracing drainage routes, mapping connection points, and pinpointing the cause of the flooding. All findings were used to update the airport’s drainage mapping, with a full written report provided to the AECOM project team.

AECOM and the airport’s engineering team received a clear, accurate, updated drainage map – giving them the precise information needed to plan remedial works and prevent future flooding. The survey was completed without disruption to airport operations.
